Poem Full Circle

Poem Full Circle

I am so much older now
Than when I wrote my teen poems
Using a manual typewriter,
The print is pale, faded with time
And I squint and strain
To read the words.

Although my eyes are weaker now
And I have travelled far
Since penning my teen emotions,
I feel in many ways
I have walked full circle
Back to where I started.

Now I have deeper empathy
Of those around me
And life has humbled me,
No longer do I have all the answers,
But the basic personal truths
Are stronger, deeper than ever.

I knew back then
That nature and simplicity
Bring me peace,
That I need my personal space,
And freedom is as vital to me
As the very air I breathe.
