A Hankering for Simple Tucker

A Hankering for Simple Tucker

There are so many cooking programs on the television lately.

Things I Have Noticed:
  • Plating up with one's hands
  • Not too long ago (in my neck of the woods) this was looked at as a 'no, no'. You served up with utensils for the sake of hygiene.

  • Many 'fancy' and expensive ingredients
  • Lots of things I haven't heard of, though a few I would like to try.

  • Salad or salsa type sides appear difficult
  • Not really, but works of art, requiring time

  • Sauces, dressings
  • Lots of preparation for a swirl on a plate. Give me the gravy boat. Sometimes herbs and spices mask the taste of the main dish.

  • Tiny portions
  • After all the preparations, you end up with courses of little tastes. Nibbles.

The whole process in some programs is so stressful...
meals seem to have turned into fancy dinner parties.

This is great for the fine diners, experimenters and those looking for extra 'zing'.

Alot of dishes appear fussy and complicated and while I might 'oooh' and 'ahhh' over some of the dishes produced, I find myself wanting to go back to simpler preparations and methods.
