It's not everyday that it feels like you have to hold the lions back. Some days are like that though. It could be because we are really busy and pressured or the struggle could be that we don't have enough to keep us busy. Getting the right amount of stress that makes life feel worthwhile, helps us to feel valued and important is a delicate balance.
Sometimes the struggle can be internal. It can be an inner conflict that we struggle with. These can sometimes be the most challenging because you can't always put a finger on it. You feel unsettled and may not know why. Or you may know why but not want to face the real underlying issue - yet or ever.
The struggle could actually be someone else's struggle that we take on. We can do this when we are caring about the other person. Although this can seem like a helpful thing to do, it can be burdening of us and send a message to them that they are not capable. That we cannot trust them to manage without us. Sometimes that may be the case, like when someone is unwell and can't physically or mentally look after themselves. It can be that we are not really thinking through the boundaries of what they actually need and what our need is in helping them.
Without a struggle, life could be a bit boring, a bit meaningless. We might feel like we have no purpose or aim to work towards. The struggles can highlight what is most important to us, what it is that matters most. After all, if it's not worth struggling for it can't be too important.
