There is great beauty in rivers. There lives are not so different to our own. From source to sea, like birth to death.
Rivers are essential to mankind. Ancient civilizations were built around rivers, they depended upon the river, like a person on their friend.
Youthful rivers flow fast, like the fast paced reality the youth live. They erode deeply, like the depth of emotions we feel as teenagers. Like us, some never make it past this stage.
Mature rivers travel slower but flow more, like the responsible adults we become. They erode laterally, like men and women taking from their environment to bring with them.
The older river doesn't flow very much. It deposits more, like people who give more in their retirement. They deposit their final load into a vast body of water, like the memoirs written to add the the infinite shelf.
Throughout the flow of the river there are obstacles like rocks and pebbles. Things that get in our way and slow us down, taking a part of us, part of our load.
When there is life in the river the river is healthy. Like life in our lives, people and relationships.
