I never used to like to procrastinate. It felt like such a waste of time. Time that you could never reclaim again. Lost and unused. More recently though I find that procrastination can be a good thing. It can give you some time to focus on what's really important. What really matters. It reminds me that life goes on even if I don't get to do that most important thing I planned to do. No one else notices or cares, usually.
Procrastination can be a way to give yourself some down time, some time to truly relax and live in the moment. While you hold on to the endless jobs that you know are awaiting you you get a chance to unwind, to tune into how you are really feeling.
If only I could procrastinate more I might get to finish all of those books beside the bed. I might not rush around the place with such urgency and might not set myself with unrealistic expectations about what should be done or what must be done today. I might notice some things I'm missing at the moment.
So the next time I find myself procrastinating, I'm going to enjoy it, ban the negative self talk and embrace it.
