At some point and time, we find ourselves lost. It has become so easy to be caught up in the fast-paced world of instant gratification and entitlement. Students leave high school believing that college is the only rewarding option worth sacrificing their financial freedom. College students are graduating with an innate sense of entitlement as they enter the competition for employment.

The expectations, the social norms, have become suffocating. Stress and anxiety have become so common that the medication is a daily regiment. Alternatives are fervently sought, and spirituality becomes a shelter whether you believe in a higher power or not.

Inner peace rarely comes from conforming to the norms without question. Rather finding your own path through life takes precedent. The arts and engaging in today's culture brings beauty to reality. Music enlightens awareness and empowers the spirit. Digital media such as film and gaming brings new worlds to existence. Writing escapes the confines of journalism and gives clarity through journaling, blogging, and creation of fictional fantasies.

Finding your own path means rejecting the social norms and fighting for your right to digress. It means breaking through the restlessness and trying something new no matter what it is. Taking a class, trying a new restaurant, and quitting your dead-end job to pursue the passion in your heart since childhood have validity.

You only need to take a step forward.
