There are few things as enjoyable as the morning coffee. We may not realise how important this is to our morning routine until we miss out on it. Perhaps it's the caffeine kick that we need to start the day, or perhaps there's something about the smell or the routine. After all, us humans love a routine to help us feel safe and secure.
Having someone, like a barista, make us a coffee helps us to feel nurtured, cared about. Meeting our needs through our connection with each other. Research now tells us that we don't enjoy food we prepare for ourselves as much because we become accustomed to the smell of the food as we prepare it. Perhaps the same applies to coffee.
It can feel like our day hasn't really started until we've had our morning coffee. So a day without coffee in the morning doesn't really begin. Or at least something will be missing. Our performance may be reduced if we feel like we haven't begun the day as we should have.
