No matter how much we try, we will never be able to change the body shape we were born with. Instead of fretting over what is wrong, try enhancing what is right! You’ll be amazed by what a few simple pieces of clothing can do for your body.
The Apple: Those with an apple body shape tend to have a wide torso and narrow hips. Therefore, it is best to elongate the body and accentuate those killer legs. This can be done by empire cut tops and dresses, v-necks and shorter skirts. Try adding a belt around your waist as this will add emphasis to your upper body and take away from your torso.
The Pear: The name says it all – if you have a pear body shape you will have a small upper body and a larger lower body, meaning you carry most of your weight on your hips and thighs. To highlight your curvy figure try high waisted skirts or styles that cinch in your waist. Square necklines and strapless garments also work wonders as they draw attention to your upper body.
The Hourglass: If you are one of the lucky women who are born with an hourglass figure, it means that you have a slim waist and your hips and shoulder are alike in proportion. To show off your curves it is best to stay away from baggy clothing; instead try wearing tighter clothes that emphasis your waist. High waisted skirts, skinny jeans and wrap around dresses are also great for this figure type as they help to highlight all your best assets.
The Rectangle: This figure type depicts a rectangular shape as your hips, waist and shoulders are all similar in size; giving you a straight appearance. In this case it’s all about creating curves in order to enhance your shape; therefore, it is best to wear sweetheart tops, ruched and cinched dresses and to layer items. Why not have some fun and play around with colourful bottoms; they look great and help to add curvature.
It doesn't matter what shape or size you are, the key to looking great is choosing the right outfit. Be confident in how you look – if you’re happy in what you’re wearing then you’ll feel great.
