Body image is one of the many things in our lives that women struggle with the most. Women are constantly being sexualised by the media and have certain expectations of how to look from society. We canít be too fat, we canít be too skinny, we canít be too pale, we canít be too tan... the list goes on.
These messages are constantly being screamed at us from all directions. And while hearing this from the media, from society, and quite often from men, I think that the worst place to be hearing this message is from other women.
We spread the message to love our bodies, to embrace our imperfections, and to challenge the modern beauty standards. And yet we still criticise other women on their appearance
We do not need to compete with each. Women have different bodies and that is a beautiful thing. Imagine how different the world would be for females if we gave each other nothing but support and encouragement.
In a world where the female body is constantly being objectified and critiqued, we need to be spreading the message to our fellow females that we are perfect just the way we are and that our bodies deserve to be respected.
Supporting other women should be a top priority of ours, so next time you catch the eye of a girl at work, at the grocery store, or on the bus, be sure to chuck her a compliment and tell her how great sheís looking! Us women have gotta stick together.
